Energetic Minji

Rotoscoping Animation

Introduce animation style to K-pop videos and the music industry in general. Since it is really rare to have rotoscoping animation in music videos, I believe that it will become a new style to promote their songs and create a unique visual identity. With K-pop being so popular in almost every part of the world, using audio and taking a unique approach to making an animation video sounded like the perfect recipe for exposure. This innovative technique can set artists apart and captivate a global audience.

Progress

During the process, I traced the movements of the dance along with the song. I selected the member called Minji, who dances and sings the pre-chorus, which became the part for the rotoscoping animation. Primarily, I traced the outline but added some details to depict movements in each clip. This approach allowed me to capture the fluidity and energy of the performance, adding depth and realism to the animation.

Reference Video

I have referenced a K-pop group called NewJeans, specifically their song "Hype Boy." They are an idol group based in Korea and are currently trending worldwide. "Hype Boy" is a song that expresses the emotions of teenage love. Along with the dance, I decided to incorporate effects to evoke deeper emotions and connect with viewers regarding the theme of teenage love.
