Social media is recently affecting young generations, especially because it is perceived as necessary to consume luxury brands or change themselves to adapt to "social norms." Illustrating the transition from being "perfect" to "perfect either way" can change the mindset that they are perfect no matter how they dress up. Personally, I struggled to accept myself for my appearance and imperfections. I decided to create an animation to help people who are struggling to feel good about themselves without harboring negative thoughts.
The song used for this animation is "Made You Look" by Meghan Trainor. I used MediBang Paint for my illustrations before adding them to After Effects. The Gucci bag and Louis Vuitton bracelet are referenced from actual products on their website. I used these items to align with the lyrics and illustrate that whether people have them or not, they are still perfect. Incorporating these high-end items helped convey the message of confidence and self-worth, emphasizing that true value comes from within.
This is my storyboard for my animation. Some of the illustrations have changed, although most of them follow the original plan. All illustrations are based on the lyrics and aim to match the sound and movements. While producing this animation piece, I wanted to showcase my unique style alongside my animation skills. Since the song emphasizes the beauty in everyone, I decided to use illustrations rather than creating icons in Illustrator.
